Terms of Use
These are the terms under which you can use premovers.ca and the content we publish here, including the Buyer's Guide PDF. Plain English, no tricks. Your access to commercial BrightCat data products is governed by a separate commercial licence agreement and is not covered by these terms.
1. Who these terms are with
These terms form an agreement between you and BrightCat Data Ltd., a private limited company registered in the United Kingdom, which operates the premovers.ca brand. By using this site or downloading the Buyer's Guide, you agree to these terms and our Privacy Notice. If you don't agree, don't use the site.
2. What you can do with site content
Everything published on premovers.ca — including blog posts, guides, the technical explainer, and the evaluation framework — is free to read, share, and link to. You can reference it in internal research, vendor comparisons, and procurement documents.
What you can't do:
- Republish substantial portions verbatim on another site without our written permission.
- Remove or obscure our attribution. If you quote or summarize us externally, link back to the source page.
- Pass our content off as your own. If you work at a competitor, don't copy the structure or specific wording of our pages.
- Use our trademarks. PreMovers, PreMovers.ca, BrightCat, and BrightCat Data are trademarks of BrightCat Data Ltd. You can refer to us by name, but you can't use our marks to imply endorsement, partnership, or affiliation that doesn't exist.
3. The Buyer's Guide PDF
The Canadian Pre-Mover Data Buyer's Guide PDF is provided to you for your own evaluation and procurement use. You're welcome to:
- Share the PDF internally within your organization.
- Print it.
- Reference it in procurement documents or internal memos.
- Use the scorecard on page 10 to evaluate any vendor, including us.
What you can't do with the PDF:
- Republish or rehost it on your own site or in a public repository.
- Modify or rebrand it as your own content.
- Remove the PreMovers.ca or BrightCat Data attribution.
- Sell or license it to third parties.
We don't charge for the guide. We also don't promise updates on any particular schedule. If the field changes materially, we may publish a revised edition.
4. Commercial data products
These terms cover this website and the Buyer's Guide only. Access to BrightCat's commercial data products — BrightCat Listings, BrightCat Sold, BrightCat Rentals, BrightCat Commercial, BrightCat Core, and the underlying PreMovers feeds — is governed by a separate commercial licence agreement. Sample data delivered during evaluation is subject to that agreement's evaluation terms, not these terms.
If you need the commercial licence agreement before a procurement review, email hello@premovers.ca with "MDLA request" in the subject line.
5. No warranties on site content
The content on premovers.ca is published in good faith and reflects our best understanding of the Canadian pre-mover data category at the time of writing. We don't warrant it as legal advice, procurement advice, or a substitute for your own due diligence on any vendor (including us).
The Buyer's Guide, the evaluation framework, and the technical guide are educational reference materials, not a contractual framework. Any decision you make based on them is your own.
6. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, BrightCat Data Ltd. is not liable for any indirect, consequential, incidental, or special damages arising from your use of premovers.ca or the Buyer's Guide. Our total aggregate liability for any claim related to site content or the guide is limited to CAD $100.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
7. Third-party links
The site and the Buyer's Guide link to third-party sites, some of which are operated by competitors or potential competitors. Those links are for reference only. We don't endorse their content and we aren't responsible for what they publish.
8. Changes to the site
We update premovers.ca regularly. Pages may be rewritten, moved, or retired without notice. Where we retire a page with significant external references, we redirect it to a sensible successor page where we can.
9. Changes to these terms
If we make material changes to these terms, we'll update the "last updated" date at the top and note the substantive change in our llms.txt changelog. Continued use of the site after a material change means you accept the updated terms. For minor corrections (typos, clarifications) we'll update without notice.
10. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from these terms or your use of the site will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
If you're a consumer in Canada, this jurisdiction clause does not override any mandatory consumer protection rights you have under Canadian law in your province of residence.
